For anyone who loves going on adventures with good friends, enjoying breathtaking views, exploring new climbing routes, and gaining confidence in the mountains and on the climbing wall.
For those who:
- Want to learn a lot about climbing and alpine travel
- Enjoy heights, steep terrain, and exposure
- Want to experience some of Norway’s most spectacular mountain areas
We make the most of the mountains in Lofoten and Northern Norway!
A world of peaks offering incredible opportunities for ski touring, climbing, and steep outdoor adventures. The Lofoten mountains will be our main playground, but we also take trips to other mountain regions in Northern Norway, staying in both tents and cabins.
Through the climbing and glacier courses in the fall, you will gain the confidence, knowledge, and skills needed to undertake your own trips with ropes and protection. There are endless climbing opportunities near the school. During the fall, you will also complete an extensive first aid course and learn crevasse rescue techniques.
In the semester course, you will be part of the daily life at Lofoten Folkehøgskole, getting to know students and teachers from other programs while participating in various joint and elective courses throughout the fall.
Many students who have spent a year in Lofoten have gained a strong foundation for further climbing pursuits—whether in sport, trad, or alpine climbing.
