Lofoten is at its best during winter. The mountains and the snow offer endless possibilities: Get confident on skis, go on a two-week long trip with tents and experience the northern lights!
The period from January to May is full of opportunities in Lofoten – in changing northern Norwegian weather and winds. From long nights with blazing Northern Lights and the return of the sun in January, to increasingly lighter days and nights as winter progresses – and before you know it, the daylight lasts all night!
The program of the course is detailed and educational. The mountains and the sea are always within reach, and we make the most of the opportunities available.
During the course, you will learn, among other things:
Safe and secure travel in the forest and winter mountains
Become skilled in mountain skiing and pulk (sled)
Tricks and skills for winter camping and tent life
Practical trip planning and how to read weather and wind
Proper clothing and outdoor gear
Preparation of outdoor meals and cooking on a stove and campfire
Orientation and map reading
Foraging and leaving no trace on the trail
The best stories and conversations are shared around the campfire.
Throughout the course, you will experience the magical winter in Lofoten and Northern Norway. We will go on day trips and longer overnight trips in both Lofoten and other Arctic hiking areas. We will learn to respect the forces of nature and to leave no trace behind except for our ski tracks.
The goal is to make you more independent on winter trips and inspire you to new outdoor adventures!
